JAPAN Auction has been renamed to JDirectItems Auction.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What kind of misleading listings are being posted on these sites?<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Here at One Map by FROM JAPAN, we want our customers to have a safe shopping experience so we regularly update these cautionary messages as reminders to customers before they make a bid or a purchase.<\/p>\n<p>So when you open up a product listing on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fromjapan.co.jp\/japan\/en\/yahoo-auctions\/?utm_source=BlogEn&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=241220FakeListings_en&amp;utm_term=YAucTop_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JDirectItems Auction (Formerly: Yahoo! JAPAN Auction) page<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fromjapan.co.jp\/japan\/en\/mercari\/?utm_source=BlogEn&amp;utm_medium=post&amp;utm_campaign=241220FakeListings_en&amp;utm_term=MercariJPTop_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mercari JP page<\/a>, at the top you will see some cautionary messages like this below.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\" wp-image-20048 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fromjapan.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Screenshot-2024-12-12-185056.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Listings that show multiple items in a photo when only 1 item \/ 1 part is for sale<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, we have noticed that there is a trend on JDirectItems Auction (Formerly: Yahoo! JAPAN Auction) and on Japan flea market sites such as Mercari and Rakuten Rakuma for sellers to use a photo for their listing that displays multiple items. But upon closer inspection of the description, it says that <\/span><b>not all of the items<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are being sold but instead, only one \/ a portion of the items are available for purchase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below, you can see an example.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\" wp-image-20048 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fromjapan.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-63.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This listing uses a photo with multiple items displayed, so it can be easy to believe that upon purchasing, you will get all the items in the picture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, in Japanese, the underlined section of the description (\u3053\u3061\u3089\u306e\u4e2d\u6bb5\u307e\u3093\u4e2d\u306e\u3061\u3044\u304b\u308f\u5bff\u53f8\u30de\u30b9\u30b3\u30c3\u30c8\u3044\u304f\u3089\u306e\u307f\u306e\u8cfc\u5165\u30da\u30fc\u30b8\u3067\u3059\u3002\u5370\u3092\u3064\u3051\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059) translates to: \u201cThis is the purchase page for <strong>only the Chiikawa Sushi Salmon Mascot in the middle of the middle row<\/strong>. It is marked in the image.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\" wp-image-20048 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fromjapan.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-64.png\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<img class=\" wp-image-20048 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fromjapan.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-65.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you look at the image, the mark that they put is so small and hard to see! It\u2019s very easy to miss and if you can\u2019t read Japanese, then you won\u2019t be able to know this.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Listings that indicate numbers like x25 when only 1 item \/ 1 part is for sale<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another example of misleading listings are those with numbers such as x25 written on the item name or on the product image, like in the example below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It would be easy to believe that this means there are 25 pieces of that item being sold, however there have been cases where only 1 item is being sold and it\u2019s the <\/span><b>price of the item<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that\u2019s increased 25 times and not the number of pieces included.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\" wp-image-20048 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fromjapan.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-66.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h1>How can I avoid purchasing from a mislead listing?<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend always checking the description listed on the product page before adding an item to your cart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make this easier for you, One Map by FROM JAPAN has a handy automatic translation feature that you can make use of, shown below.
