Why buy from the official Nintendo Store Japan?
The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, just to name a few — Nintendo has gifted us with countless franchises loved by many all over the world.
But no matter how far Nintendo might go, they’ll always have their origins in Japan. And with how popular they are amongst the Japanese population, Nintendo has been releasing plenty of merchandise and limited edition items exclusive to Japan. So if you’re a fan of any of Nintendo’s works (or maybe even all of their works!), their official Japanese store has untapped merch potential you may be missing out on!
If you’re ready to discover what you can get your hands on from Nintendo Store Japan, then read along to learn about an easy-to-follow way to get Nintendo goodies delivered to you using FROM JAPAN!
Step 1. Go to Nintendo Store Japan’s official homepage.
As soon as you open the Nintendo Store Japan homepage, you’re already greeted with characters and items you may be familiar with. Feel free to scroll through the page just to see what’s there, but if you’re feeling intimidated by all the Japanese text, we’ll guide you in the next step on how to find the perfect Nintendo merch for you.
Step 2. Get searching!
To start, scroll down towards the middle of the page to see these four buttons:
From left to right, they are: ソフト (games and other software), 本体・周辺機器 (consoles and peripherals), グッズ (merchandise), 交換グッズ (exchange goods). Since today we’re purchasing physical items, you want to focus on the two middle buttons, for consoles and merch.
Since Nintendo’s current generation console is the Switch, the Consoles and Peripherals section contains all the versions of the Nintendo Switch released thus far and other things you can customize it with, including some Japan-exclusive peripherals.
The Merchandise section is where we get a lot of variety, since they have Nintendo games merchandise you can use for pretty much any aspect of your life. From limited edition Legend of Zelda soundtrack box CD sets, to Super Mario Lego sets and Splatoon or Animal Crossing plush toys, the only question left to ask is: what can’t you get at Nintendo Store Japan?
Once you’ve selected the items you want to buy, it’s time to move on to the next step.
Step 3. Check out the item details.
In this example, we’ll be using this limited edition The Legend of Zelda Original Soundtrack CD box set to explain how you can get shiny new items from the Nintendo Store sent to you.
Once you pick out the items you want, the Nintendo Store product page will show you details such as the price (written in yen on the upper right part of the page) and images of the product, which in this case shows us the beautifully illustrated box with Link on the cover. You will also see the item description in Japanese. You can copy-and-paste this into Google Translate, and for set items, they also normally list what the items included in the set are.
Other important things to note are that if an item is still available, you will see a red button with カートに入れる (Add to cart), and if an item is for pre-order, you will see a 予約 tag on the page as well. In the description, you should find a clearer date of when the item will be released.
If you’ve reviewed all the details, we can proceed to the steps in securing our purchase.
Step 4. Create an account with FROM JAPAN and then copy and paste the URL of the item page into FROM JAPAN’s search bar.
Copy and paste the URL from the Nintendo Store to FROM JAPAN’s search bar, which would look like this:
Step 5. Hit search and complete the order form.
Clicking on the search button will take you to our price quote request form where you will have to fill in the details of your order. Below is an example of a completed form.
You need to fill in the Japanese name of the item exactly as it appears on the site — even if the title is long, copy and paste all of it! Then fill in the quantity of items you want to order. If an item has different size or color options, make sure to fill these in as well because we need this information to proceed with your order. You can also choose to upload images of the item if you wish to do so.
Lastly, you can leave us a comment if there’s any extra information you wish for us to know. Don’t forget to double-check all the details before sending it to us!
Once we’ve processed your price quote request, our Shopping Team will send an invoice with the cost breakdown of the item. If you are planning to buy multiple items, you will need to request a separate price quote for each individual item.
After you have received all invoices and Charge 1 has been paid, your items will be shipped to our distribution centre. Once all your items have arrived at our warehouse, you can choose which items you would like shipped together and select your preferred shipping method. At this point you will be sent to the Charge 2 payment page. Charge 2 includes international and domestic shipping fees, as well as the fee for our Product Protection Plan.
Step 6. Wait for your Nintendo items to arrive!
You’ve completed all the steps, so now all that’s left is to wait for your items to arrive! Remember that if you purchased a pre-order item, shipping won’t start until your item has been released in Japan, so this will affect your waiting time. But you can always boot up your favorite Nintendo games in the meantime, because we know your items are right around the corner!
