What is SK∞ (Sk8 the Infinity)?
First aired in January 2021, Sk8 the Infinity (stylized as SK∞ in Japanese) is one of the more recently released animes that quickly gained a loyal following. As you can probably tell from the name, the story of Sk8 the Infinity is all about skateboarding, specifically the underground skateboarding competition, “S”, that takes place in Okinawa. With the participants all having different approaches but sharing a common passion for skateboarding, the show can be intense and will surely leave you with a brand new appreciation for the sport.
Even if you were already interested in skateboarding before, the show reels you in even further thanks to its colorful set of characters. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the various personalities that make up Sk8 the Infinity’s most popular characters!
Most Popular Sk8 the Infinity Characters
Reki Kyan
The most enthusiastic of the bunch, Reki Kyan shows his passion for skateboarding in undeniable ways. He is a big fan of the “S” competition, and spends his free time creating his own custom decks. Reki’s energy is contagious and even convinced our next character and his best friend, Langa Hasegawa, to take part in the “S” races.
Langa Hasegawa
Langa Hasegawa starts out as an outsider. He is half-Japanese and also transferred from Canada to Okinawa with his mother. His personality is typically pretty laid back, but once he got into skateboarding, Langa’s determination shines through and you can’t help but root for him. Langa’s alter ego in the competition is “Snow”, taken from the color of his hair and his previous snowboarding background.
Miya Chinen
Next, we have the cat-loving Miya Chinen. On the outside, Miya can come across quite smug and has even had a few clashes with some of the other characters early on, but he backs it up with his immense talent and skill when it comes to skateboarding. As we follow his story, we learn that deep inside, Miya is actually a softie, which is likely why he is one of the show’s most popular characters.
Hiromi Higa
Last but definitely not the least, we have the eye-catching Hiromi Higa. Hiromi immediately stands out in any group he’s in thanks to his tall and muscly build. This pattern continues with his Shadow alter-ego, where he is seen rocking a spiky mohawk and stylized face paint. Although Hiromi might seem intimidating when he’s in skateboarding mode, in his everyday life, he is actually quite a gentle and kind man who works as a florist.
